Community Rallies Around Family Of Slain Wallingford Teen
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help raise funds to send the 17-year-old's cremated remains to his mother in Guatemala.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Support is pouring in for the family of Nolvin Diaz, the 17-year-old boy who police say was killed by his uncle in Wallingford. A GoFundMe page has been launched to help raise money for cremation and to transport Diaz’s ashes to his mother in Guatemala.
Diaz’s body was found by two kayakers in Community Lake on May 3. He had been reported missing by his family on April 25. David Diaz-Perez, 21, was arrested Monday night and charged with murder. He is being held on a $2 million bail and the case has been continued to June 23, according to state judicial records.
The GoFundMe page, which was created by Laura Juarez, described Diaz as someone who “liked to draw, write poems, ride his bike and play soccer” in his free time.
