Coronavirus Wallingford: Revised School Calendar Approved

The school board has approved the revised school calendar and the district is also donating medical items to assist the town and state.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Board of Education approved changes to the school calendar for the rest of the school year, including setting the last day of school for students.

The school board approved the following changes Monday night, according to Superintendent of Schools Salvatore Menzo:

  • April vacation will remain from Friday, April 10 to Friday, April 17 during which time there will be no distance learning. Classes are currently scheduled to resume on Monday, April 20.
  • The Presidential Primary has been moved from Tuesday, April 28 to Tuesday, June 2. As a result, June 2 is not a day of school and there is no distance learning.
  • The last day of school for students is Tuesday, June 16.

Menzo also said the district is donating numerous items to “assist with the medical needs of our community and state. I want to thank our staff for pulling these supplies together.”

The district is donating: 140 boxes of gloves to the Town of Wallingford; 98 gowns to the Town of Wallingford; 20 boxes of masks to the Town of Wallingford; 13 goggles to the Town of Wallingford; 10 bottles of disinfectant wipes to the Town of Wallingford; 40 boxes of gloves and five boxes of masks to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Menzo said the district’s nurse coordinator has “reviewed inventory and maintained supplies for our staff when schools open again.”
