Dickinson Won’t Seek Re-Election As Wallingford Mayor: Report
Wallingford Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. has announced that he is not seeking re-election after serving 20 consecutive terms in office.

WALLINGFORD, CT — While it remains to be seen who will win the November mayoral election, one thing is certain – Wallingford will have a new mayor for the first time in 40 years.
Mayor William W. Dickinson Jr. announced during Wednesday night’s Republican Town Committee meeting that he is not seeking re-election after serving 20 consecutive terms in office, according to the Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports that Republican Town Council Chairman Vincent Cervoni also announced at the meeting that he would seek the party’s nomination to succeed Dickinson as mayor.

Dickinson defeated Democratic challenger Riley O'Connell by fewer than 400 votes in the 2021 election to claim his 20th consecutive term in office.
It was the first time in 30 years that a Democratic candidate came within 1,000 votes of beating Dickinson.

O’Connell announced last May that he would make another run for mayor.
Now that Dickinson has officially announced he won’t seek re-election, the field of candidates could grow.
