Driver Accused Of Fatally Striking DOT Worker Appears In Court
The driver accused of fatally striking a state DOT worker in Wallingford could face additional charges, according to officials.
WALLINGFORD, CT — The driver accused of fatally striking a Connecticut Department of Transportation worker Friday morning in Wallingford could face additional charges once the state police investigation is completed, according to officials.
Andrew DiDomenico, 26, of Meriden, was working alongside the shoulder of the Exit 13 on ramp “policing trash for mowing crews” when he was struck by a vehicle that left the travel portion of the roadway, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police said DiDomenico was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was later identified as Denise Lucibello, who police said was arrested on Friday.
Lucibello, 55, of East Haven, appeared in Meriden Superior Court on Monday to face charges of misconduct with a motor vehicle, driving under the influence, illegal operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to drive in proper lane, and failure to slow down/move over for a non-emergency vehicle.

Superior Court Judge David L. Zagaja reduced Lucibello’s bail from $1 million to $500,000 at Monday’s appearance.
Connecticut State Police are continuing to investigate the fatal crash.
“The New Haven State’s Attorney’s Office will wait until Connecticut State Police have completed a thorough investigation before considering additional charges in the case,” New Haven State’s Attorney John P. Doyle Jr. said. “Today, I join with the entire Division of Criminal Justice and all state employees in expressing our deepest condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Mr. DiDomenico. Please join us in support of his family and friends and all Department of Transportation employees at this difficult time.”
