Police say the driver eventually fell unconscious and was administered a dose of Narcan at the scene.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police say a local man was operating under the influence when his vehicle struck three other vehicles, along with a guardrail and several traffic signs along Route 5 on Wednesday afternoon.
The driver also fell unconscious and was administered a dose of Narcan at the scene, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.
At about 2:45 p.m. on March 15, a Wallingford Police officer was responding to a call when she observed a vehicle being driven erratically southbound on North Colony Road in the area of Staples Plaza.

“The vehicle was observed colliding into a guardrail and continuing southbound, jumping the median several times and swerving in-and-out of traffic,” Bradley said in a press release. “The vehicle came to a stop when the operator crashed into the rear of another vehicle that was stopped at the light at the on-ramp to Route 15 South.”
The officer approached the vehicle and found “the operator and sole passenger awake, but, slurring his words and eventually falling unconscious,” according to Bradley.

“The operator was removed from the vehicle and First Aid was administered to include the administration of Narcan,” Bradley said. “The operator regained consciousness while being treated by paramedics in the ambulance. He was subsequently transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, but, had no indication of any injury. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.”
Bradley said that in the approximate half mile of travel, three vehicles were struck along with a guardrail and several traffic signs. No injuries were reported.
The operator was identified as Nathan Watrous, 28, of Wallingford.
Watrous was later charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, three counts of evading responsibility and one count each of reckless driving and failure to drive in proper lane. He was released on a $1,500 non-surety bond at the hospital and is scheduled to appear at Meriden Superior Court on March 28.
