Ex-Baseball Coach Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Players: Wallingford PD
The man, who was an area youth baseball coach, is accused of sexually assaulting two of his players more than a decade ago, police said.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A former Wallingford resident who was an area youth baseball coach is accused of sexually assaulting two of his players more than a decade ago, according to police.
Frank Melillo, 58, of Bethany, was arrested Feb. 23 on a warrant in connection with a sexual assault investigation, according to Lt. Stephen Jaques.
Jaques said Wallingford police received a complaint last April regarding a sexual assault through the Wolcott Police Department, which began investigating Melillo.

“Melillo was a baseball coach for youth in the area in the past and was accused of sexually assaulting two boys who formerly played on his baseball team around 2010,” Jaques wrote in a news release. “He resided in Wallingford at the time.”
Detectives spoke with the two victims, who were juveniles at the time of the incident, according to Jaques.

Jaques said detectives determined the sexual assaults, which occurred with one of the victims over several years, occurred in Wallingford along with other towns.
Melillo was charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of risk of injury to a minor. He was released after posting two $50,000 bonds and is scheduled to be arraigned on March 8.
The case was investigated by the Wallingford Police Department’s Detective Division with assistance from the Wolcott, Woodbury and Watertown police departments, according to Jaques.
