Lyman Hall Rolls To Second Straight Class L Baseball Championship

The Lyman Hall baseball team claimed its second straight CIAC Class L championship with a dominant win over second-seeded Bethel.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The Lyman Hall baseball team rolled to its second straight CIAC Class L championship with a dominant 11-1 victory over second-seeded Bethel on Sunday afternoon at Palmer Field in Middletown.

The top-seeded Trojans were led by sophomore Liam Laffin, who also pitched Lyman Hall to the title in last year’s championship game as a freshman.

Laffin limited Bethel to one run on five hits while striking out 11 in six innings, according to GameTimeCT. Senior co-captain Will Quinn came on in relief in the seventh and closed out the victory for Lyman Hall.

It was the fourth overall state championship for Lyman Hall, which also won in 1969, 2002 and 2025 in the program’s only appearances in the finals.

The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and scored four more runs in the bottom of the second to make it 5-0.

Aaron Rich blasted a two-run home run to score his twin brother Ethan Rich in the bottom of the fourth to give Lyman Hall a commanding 7-0 lead.

Lyman Hall finished the season with a 27-1 record, with its lone loss coming to Fairfield Prep in the SCC championship game.
