Lyman Hall Students Donate Indestructible Soccer Balls To Mexico

The class donated its recent prize money to the One World Play Project.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Students at Lyman Hall High School donated their recent prize winnings to One World Play Project, which will send three indestructible soccer balls to a village in Mexico.

Maria DiVirgilio, a Spanish teacher at Lyman Hall, submitted a photo of her students to the Meriden Record-Journal for their School Spirit Photo and after the voting was complete, the class won $125.

“We donated the prize money to the One World Play Project,” DiVirgilio said. “This organization donates indestructible soccer balls to children in impoverished areas, refugee camps and conflict zones. Our three donated balls are en route to a village in Mexico and we will be communicating with the recipients (in Spanish). We learned about the ‘One World Futbol’ in our Science and Technology unit so it also fits in with our curriculum.
