Lyman Hall Wins CIAC Division II Hockey Championship
The fourth-seeded Trojans took on No. 11 Conard in the CIAC Division II final on Friday night at Quinnipiac University.
WALLINGFORD, CT — The Lyman Hall hockey team won the CIAC Division II championship with a 5-2 victory over No. 11 Conard on Friday night at the M&T Bank Arena at Quinnipiac University in Hamden.
With the win, fourth-seeded Lyman Hall claimed the program’s second state title. The Trojans won the Division III state title in 2019 as part of a co-op team with Haddam-Killingworth and Coginchaug.
JJ Laffin scored off an assist from Aiden Akoury with just over 3 minutes remaining in the first period to give Lyman Hall a 1-0 lead.

The Trojans took a 2-0 lead in the second period when George Porto scored off an assist from Gavin Gierla.
Conard pulled within 2-1 with 10 minutes, 18 seconds remaining in the third period.

Liam Laffin scored an unassisted goal about 2 minutes later to make it a 3-1 game.
Nate D’Amico scored off an assist from Liam Laffin to give the Trojans a 4-1 lead with just over 5 minutes to go.
Conard responded with a goal just seconds later to make it a 4-2 game.
Gierla closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal with just over a minute to go to give Lyman Hall a 5-2 lead.
Lyman Hall senior goalie Owen Hamm finished with 25 saves, including 13 in the third period, according to the Hartford Courant.
