Man, 19, Charged with Stealing Mail, Threatening to Kill Officers; Later Found Sleeping in $95K Porsche: Wallingford PD
The suspect was arrested twice within a 12-hour span, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A 19-year-old Meriden man was arrested twice within 12 hours after police say he was caught taking mail out of residential mailboxes, threatened to kill police officers and was later found sleeping behind the wheel of a $95,000 Porsche at a dealership.
It all started at about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, when Wallingford Police were dispatched to the area of Yale Avenue and North Main Extension on the report of a man walking in the middle of the street, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.
The caller told police that he observed the subject taking mail out of residential mailboxes, opening it and then discarding it on the side of the road.

Responding officers identified the subject as Jacob Dexter, 19, of Dryden Drive in Meriden.
“Dexter admitted to officers that he goes through other people’s mail, hoping to find money,” Bradley said in a press release. “During their interaction with Dexter, he became aggressive, threatening to kill the officers.”

Dexter was taken into custody and charged with interfering with an officer, sixth-degree larceny, reckless use of a highway by a pedestrian and possession of less than ½ ounce of marijuana.
Dexter was held on a $1,000 bond, however, was released by the Bail Commissioner on a promise to appear in court on Feb. 8, according to Bradley.
Then, at about 2:20 a.m. on Thursday morning, a patrol officer noticed hazard lights flashing on a vehicle in the lot of the Porsche dealership located at 800 South Colony Road, according to Bradley.
“The investigating officer located Jacob Dexter asleep in the driver’s seat of the vehicle,” Bradley said. “Dexter initially told the officer that it was his car, however, it was not registered and had a sticker with a sale price of $95,000. Dexter later said that if the keys were in it he would have taken it.”
Dexter was arrested again and charged with third-degree burglary and criminal attempt at first-degree larceny. He was held on a $10,000 bond and transported to Meriden Superior Court.
Dexter remains in custody and was issued a court date of Feb. 2, according to state judicial records.
