Man Arrested After Chase Through Stop & Shop: Wallingford Police

Police said the man fraudulently tried to withdraw money at M&T Bank inside Stop & Shop and then led officers on a chase through the store.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A New York man was arrested Friday after police said he fraudulently tried to withdraw money from another person’s account at M&T Bank inside Stop & Shop and then led officers on a chase through the store.

Police responded to M&T Bank inside Stop & Shop on March 17 on the report of a fraud-in-progress, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.

Jaques said the suspect had a fake license in the name of a true M&T account holder. He was trying to withdraw several thousand dollars from that customer’s account when police arrived, according to Jaques.
