WALLINGFORD, CT — A man was arrested after police said he assaulted a woman who had run to a nearby nursing home for help Wednesday morning in Wallingford.
Police responded around 10:25 a.m. on Oct. 28 to Skyview Nursing Home on Marc Drive after receiving reports that a woman was screaming for help outside, according to Lt. Stephen Jaques.
Jaques said officers found her with injuries to her face, head, torso, and arms.

Officers determined that fight had occurred between the victim and 47-year-old David Ulizio at a residence on a street adjacent to the nursing home, according to Jaques.
“The victim fled the residence through the woods to seek help at the nursing home, where officers found her,” Jaques wrote in a news release.

Jaques said the investigation found that the victim and Ulizio had first gotten into a fight the night before, on Oct. 27.
“During that incident, the victim was struck on her back, arms, and ribs with a fire poker or hammer,” Jaques wrote. “The altercation continued the next morning, when the victim was kicked and punched in the face and ribs. She then left the residence to seek help at the nearby nursing home.
“Members of the Wallingford Police Detective Division and Crime Suppression Unit responded to the residence where the altercation occurred immediately and arrested Ulizio without incident.”
Jaques said a search-and-seizure warrant was also executed at the residence.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious physical injuries, according to Jaques.
Ulizio was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, and third-degree criminal mischief. He was held in lieu of a $250,000 bond and appeared in court on Oct. 29.
