Man Assaulted Woman At Community Lake: Wallingford Police

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Waterbury man is accused of assaulting a woman inside a car in front of a young child earlier this week in Wallingford, according to police.

An officer was conducting a routine patrol in the area of Community Lake, 291 Hall Ave., around 3:50 a.m. on Nov. 14 when a woman clutching a young child was running toward him, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques.

Jaques said the woman was yelling “help, help, help, help, please help!”

The officer then saw a tall, thin man, later identified as 26-year-old Brandon Christopher Leon, running away from the scene, according to Jaques.

Leon was found several hours later at a nearby McDonald’s and was arrested, according to Jaques.

An investigation found that Leon was driving on Route 15 with the victim and her child when they started arguing, according to Jaques.

Police found that Leon struck the woman several times while in the car, and while stopped at the side of the road at multiple locations, Jaques said.

The car eventually ran out of gas in the Community Lake parking lot, where Jaques said Leon continued to assault the victim and the officer found them.

The victim was treated at an area hospital for facial injuries and the child was unharmed, Jaques said.

Leon was charged with second-degree breach of peace, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and risk of injury to a minor. He was being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond with a court date of Jan. 4, according to state judicial records.
