Man Charged With Arson In ‘Suspicious’ Fire In Wallingford: Police

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Massachusetts man has been charged with arson in connection with a “suspicious” motorcycle fire last week in Wallingford, according to police.

Wallingford police and the Wallingford Fire Department responded around 4:55 a.m. on Aug. 24 to South Cherry Street on the report of a motorcycle fire, according to Lt. Stephen Jaques.

Jaques said investigators determined the fire, which involved a 2003 Suzuki VL800 motorcycle, was suspicious.

“The Wallingford Police Department Detective Division, in coordination with the Wallingford Fire Marshal’s Office, investigated the incident, including collecting physical evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from several locations in the area,” Jaques wrote in a news release.

The investigation identified 36-year-old Keegan McNeely of Brookfield, Massachusetts, as the suspect, according to Jaques.

Jaques said an arrest warrant was obtained for McNeely, who was taken into custody on Aug. 31 in Windsor Locks.

McNeely was charged with third-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief. He was held in lieu of a $50,000 bond with a court date of Sept. 14.
