Man Led Officers on Chase in Two Towns Twice in the Same Day: Police

A Meriden man was arrested on a warrant for allegedly leading police officers from two different departments on a chase twice in the same day.

Wallingford Police arrested Andre Green, 24, on a warrant Oct. 25 for the incident that occurred over the summer.

A Wallingford police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on a tan Honda Accord for misuse of registration plates in the Stop & Shop parking lot on North Colony Road on July 11, according to Lt. Cheryl Bradley.

Bradley said the operator stepped out of the vehicle and began approaching the officer.

The officer told the operator to return to his vehicle at which time the operator got into his vehicle and drove away.

The officer pursued the vehicle for a short distance north on North Colony Road but the pursuit was terminated due to concerns for public safety. Bradley said the operator was disobeying traffic signals and crossed over a grassy shoulder area nearly missing an oncoming vehicle on the connecting road.

Later that same day, the suspect engaged in a pursuit with the West Haven Police Department, which was also terminated due to concerns of public safety.

Through investigative efforts, the suspect was identified as Green, whose last known address is 900 Hanover Road in Meriden

An arrest warrant was issued but Green couldn’t be located.

Wallingford Police were dispatched to the Adult Probation Office in Meriden on Oct. 25 to take Green into custody, according to Bradley.

Green was transported back to Wallingford where he was charged with misuse of a marker plate, failure to obey control device, operating a motor vehicle without a license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, engaging in pursuit and reckless driving. He was released on a court-ordered promise to appear and is due in court on Nov. 9.
