In Memory of Vicky Lea Barnes
She left her family a note saying, "If ever comes a day we can't be together, keep me in your heart, I will be there forever."

Vicky Lea Barnes, 76, passed surrounded by family on January 18, 2026 at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. She is the loving wife of Walter Barnes. Vicky was born in Calais, Maine on October 27, 1949 to the late Merlin and Phyllis (Cooley) Varney.
Vicky graduated from Maloney High School in 1968 and went on to become the most incredible wife, nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother there ever was--her primary goal in life achieved. Upon Walter's return from Vietnam (U.S. Army), they were married and relocated to Savannah, Georgia to begin their life together. Vicky and Walter celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage in 2025. Over those years, they took great joy in raising three amazing children and building a close-knit family.
Vicky retired as a buyer at Wesgarde in Hartford after 21 years. She was always a loving grandma, making a point to attend school events and extra-curricular activities. She consistently supported her grandchildren with her entire being no matter what endeavor they pursued.
