New Assistant Superintendent Named In Wallingford
The Board of Education this week appointed a new assistant superintendent to fill new Superintendent Danielle Bellizzi's former position.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Francis Thompson, principal of Jonathan Law High School in Milford, has been named the new assistant superintendent for personnel in Wallingford.
Thompson was appointed by the Wallingford Board of Education this week, according to Superintendent Danielle Bellizzi. He replaces Bellizzi, who was promoted to superintendent last month.
Thompson comes to Wallingford with 20 years of experience as a school administrator. He has also worked on “numerous projects at the district level and played an instrumental part in Milford’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to Bellizzi.

“Fran is committed to the belief that we provide students with the best possible foundation for success by supporting the adults entrusted with their care,” Bellizzi wrote in an email to the Wallingford school community. “This focus on personnel led Fran to pursue doctoral work in Educational Leadership, ultimately resulting in his dissertation on distributed leadership. This work has refined his desire to provide opportunities for each staff member to grow and prosper within the educational setting.”
Bellizzi said Thompson’s addition to the central office leadership team will “help ensure a smooth transition to what will be a challenging school year while assisting all of us in providing positive and meaningful experiences for students and staff throughout Wallingford.”
