The Lab is described as a “premier training center dedicated to empowering young athletes of all ages, from beginners to high schoolers, by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to reach their full potential,” according to a post on its website.
“While basketball is our primary focus, we are committed to developing well-rounded athletes through a combination of small group training, individual coaching, and performance-focused exercise programs,” the post reads. “What sets The Lab apart is our holistic approach to athletic development. We go beyond traditional drills and workouts, integrating on-court skill sessions with cutting-edge amenities like a state-of-the-art shooting range, alongside off-court tools such as individualized film study, strength and conditioning, and mental skills coaching. Our mission is to nurture the complete athlete - helping every player grow physically, mentally, and strategically - so they can thrive both on and off the court.”
The Lab features a staff of coaches that includes Mike Mallory, a former All-American player who starred at Southern Connecticut State University, where he became the all-time leading scorer in both program history and the Northeast-10 Conference. Mallory finished his collegiate career with 2,515 points.
Former UConn national champion Omar Calhoun joined The Lab as a coach earlier this month.
The coaching staff also includes Alyssa Barrett, Michael DiMartino, and The Lab co-founder Vic Joshua.
