WALLINGFORD, CT — A new business featuring all things “woo” is hosting its first in-person event in Wallingford.

“Woogle,” located inside Hidden Gem on Main and Divinely Rooted at 33 North Main St., operates online and now in-person as a spiritual community, according to Woogle Founder and CEO Jessica DiNatale.

Woogle is hosting a nine-day event that kicks off Friday, July 15 and features vendors, service providers, daily events, readers, raffle and more.

After an injury took her off the road as an Emergency Medical Technician, DiNatale said she wanted to continue her work by “helping others in a new way.”

“In 2021, I received my certification in energy work and began working with the local community of Wallingford,” DiNatale said in an email. “In that time, I began to see a need with my clients and the people around me. While no single journey is linear, I did find something they all had in common: they were all looking for community.”

A community where members can “learn about topics within the spiritual realm to connect them deeper to their human experience,” according to DiNatale.

“One that brings members together in community for all things that are ‘lesser-known,’ rooted in energy, spirituality, and celestiality,” DiNatale said. “... and one that shows them they're not alone.

“And that's how Woogle was born.”

DiNatale said they run an online community that “allows you to search for all things ‘woo’ (spiritual).”

“We have connected over 1,100 members on six continents both virtually AND in real life,” DiNatale said. “It has been a space for members to learn about the various topics within the spiritual realm to deeper connect them to their human experience.”

DiNatale shared that “woo” is:

Woo-woo (adjective or a noun) \ ˈwü-ˌwü \

1. outlandishly mystical or supernatural.

2. an event or person who embraces 'New Age” theories such as yoga, crystals, mindfulness, energy work, crystal healing, meditation, homeopathy, vision boards, witchcraft, essential oils, spiritual healing, breathing exercises, supernatural/paranormal/psychic occurrences.

"Woo" to the U.S. is “anything you want it to be,” according to DiNatale.

DiNatale said the long-term vision for Woogle looks like:

  • A database and platform allowing members to connect with others and search for all things "woo."
  • Services for gifted children and parents.
  • Yoga and meditation in schools.
  • Mental health resources for members needing support.
  • Business services and training for aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • Retreat centers and chapters across the United States.

“The impact Woogle hopes to have - is global,” DiNatale said.

DiNatale said the online community is currently managed by herself and two friends who comprise a board of three members.

“In wanting to hold strong to my vision, I decided to not go the traditional route of getting investors, as personal interest from other entities or beings can skew the ‘big picture’ of what Woogle is to become,” she said. “The goal of this nine-day event is to raise the funds needed to help fund the creation of an independent platform to get us off Facebook, protected against censorship and the downsides of the dreaded logarithm, AND help us include people who are detoxing from social media.”
