New Use Revealed For Former Wallingford Victorian Inn
The historic bed and breakfast spot closed after being sold last year.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The former Wallingford Victorian Inn on North Main Street will soon be used for guests affiliated with Choate Rosemary Hall, according to the Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports Choate bought the 6,091-square foot Victorian last year for $1.2 million and will begin renovations on the home to host prospective students, alumni and others.
Choate officials told the Record-Journal that there may be some public use allowed in the common areas at some point, but for now it will be limited to school-affiliated guests.

The owners of the Wallingford Victorian Inn announced last year that it had been sold, and it closed Nov. 1, 2021.
“Over the years, we have met some of the world’s most amazing people and thank each and every one of you for staying with us,” the owners wrote in an email to guests at the time.

The historic bed and breakfast inn, located at 245 North Main Street, was originally a wedding gift to Georgianna Hull and Charles Tibbits from her parents Gurdon W. Hull and Elizabeth Simpson Hull, according to its website.
“Over the past century and a quarter, this Queen Anne Victorian has stood watch over the town of Wallingford as more buildings sprung up,” a post on the website reads. “The dirt roads became asphalt, horse and carriage gave way to cars. Fashions flickered by in the blink of an eye. Still, it stood, rising on the corner, this enduring landmark in the cycle of change. It thrived in good times, endured the bad times. It has changed hands and purpose, yet still stands proud.”
