Obituary: Anita B. Hillman, 73, Of Wallingford
A talented crafter, she owned small businesses, Needlepoints, Etc. and Anita's Cards & Crafts, where she shared her appreciation in crafting

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Anita B. Hillman, 73, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Midstate Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Martin E. Hillman; the couple had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 4th. Born in Newark, NJ on September 26, 1949, Anita was the daughter of the late Max and Jean (Lassman) Resident.
Anita was a talented crafter. She owned small businesses, Needlepoints, Etc. and Anita’s Cards & Crafts, where she shared her appreciation in crafting. Also, for a time she worked as a craft manager at Zayres and Ames retail stores in Meriden as well as an associate at Carlton Cards in the Meriden Square.
Her passion for crafts continued on, but she wanted to care for her parents like they took care of her and it became her way later in life in helping family during their times of need as she did for her aunt, grandkids, her mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.

Anita also enjoyed bowling and playing bingo, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her loved ones; she always looked forward to gathering with family and friends at her home for summer pool parties and holidays. She also had a deep love for her animals.
In addition to her husband, Anita is survived by her children, Marsha Hillman and her partner, Ronald Cox of Wallingford, Barbara Hillman of Wallingford and Arnold Hillman and his partner, Justyna Pryzmont of Wallingford; her cherished grandchildren, Jean Azukas, Sara Azukas, Leo Remillard and Alyssa Remillard; her great-granddaughter, Lilian Azukas; and numerous extended family members and friends.

Anita’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford on Thursday, March 9 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Friends of the Wallingford Animal Shelter, 5 Pent Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
