Obituary: Carol Ann Horniak, 68, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Carol A. (Miles) Horniak, 68, of Wallingford, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the VA Connecticut Healthcare in West Haven.

She was born in New Britain, September 20, 1955, a daughter of the late George Miles and Sylvia (Clayton) Ambert.

After high school, Carol served in the U.S. Air Force as a medical service specialist until her honorable discharge in 1979. She went on to work as an L.P.N. Spending the majority of her career in geriatrics, until her retirement.

Carol thoroughly enjoyed shopping for home decor and clothing, having a coat/jacket for every occasion. She enjoyed playing Bingo at various locations with Silver Pond Apartment being her favorite because of the friends she made. Carol also found great joy spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her son, Kristopher Horniak Sr., of Cheshire; her daughters, Stephanie Barefoot and her husband John of Cheshire and Jodi Horniak and her fiancé Kevin Ramadei of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Kristopher Jr., Nicholas, Kylie, Noah, Brandon and Madison; her sister, Linda Petruzielo; her brother, George Miles; and a niece and 4 nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Brad Miles; and her former husband, Stanley Horniak.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Wednesday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford.
