Obituary: Charles Franklin Plont, 81, Of Wallingford
A U.S. Army veteran, he worked for more than 45 years in roadway and bridge construction, and was retired from Gannett Fleming, Inc.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Charles Franklin Plont, 81, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January, 14, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dora Lynn (Peirano) Plont for over 58 years.
Born in Ludington, MI on March 20, 1942, Charles was one of six sons born to the late Herculane and Muriel (Parks) Plont.
Affectionately known as Charlie, he served in the U.S. Army, was a Vietnam Veteran, and Honorably discharged in 1966. His employment assignments, spanning over 45 years, concentrated on roadway and bridge construction. He was retired from Gannett Fleming, Inc.

Some of Charlie’s favorite past times included traveling throughout the US to visit family, cruising to the Islands, watching NASCAR races, hockey, football and UConn basketball games. He enjoyed visiting wineries, attending wine and craft beer tastings, shows at the Goodspeed, as well as a simple dinner out with loved ones.
In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many cherished friends that became family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, George, John, Ronald, Richard and Lowell.

Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Charles’ memory to the Corpsman Maxton W.
