Obituary: Donna G. Bush, 64, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Donna G. Bush, 64, of Wallingford, passed after a long courageous battle from cancer on Sunday, September 24, 2023 with her family by her side. Donna was born in Meriden on March 10, 1959, daughter of the late Robert Short and Patricia Short-lee.

Donna was a 1977 graduate of Mark T. Sheehan High School and continued her education at Gateway Community College and Middlesex Community College achieving her Associates Degree.

Donna was previously employed as an Insurance Agent at North Haven Insurance for 14 years, and later at Ferguson and McGuire until her recent retirement.

Donna had many talents; she enjoyed sewing, designing and making quilts, gardening, flower arranging, and pen and ink drawings. Donna was an active member with the Wallingford Garden Club where she participated in many of their projects, including hosting the annual Garden Club Holiday Tea held at the Wallingford Public Library for several years. Donna was also an avid NY Yankees fan. Donna was a loving wife and mother who cherished time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years John Bush Jr.; her son, John E Bush III; her sisters Laura Cannon (Roy) of Wallingford, and Tammy Marquis (Paul) of Gilford, NH; her brother-in-law, David Lafond of Wallingford; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandmother Marion Conners and her sister Holly Short Lafond.

Donna’s family would like to thank Dr. Aarti Bhatia at Smilow Hospital and Dr. Guido Falcone and the staff of Yale New Haven Neurology ICU for their care and compassion during Donna’s courageous battle with cancer.

Donna’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 29, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. directly at Church of the Resurrection, 155 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
