Obituary: Donna Mary LaPlante, 78, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Donna Mary LaPlante, 78, of Wallingford, loving wife of 55 years to William A. LaPlante, passed away July 6, 2023 at her home.

Donna was born in Meriden on March 7, 1945, a daughter of the late Elton and Ruth (Null) White.

Over her career Donna had many jobs notably at Travelers insurance and Bristol Meyers. She was also a legal secretary. She was somewhat of a “cat whisperer” being able to win over even the most shy and timid of felines.

Donna loved to travel. She was able to visit many places including Italy, England, France, The Grand Canyon and Nova Scotia to name a few and of course, her beloved Ogunquit, Maine more times than can be counted.

Over the years she rarely missed her granddaughter’s plays, dance recitals, graduations, various ceremonies, etc. She was so proud of each one and loved celebrating all their accomplishments. She had a fabulous sense of humor, a generous heart and her love for her family and friends was immeasurable.

In addition to her husband, Bill, she is survived by her daughters, Amy Frost and her husband, Craig, of East Hampton and Kristyn LaPlante of Blue Hill, Maine; her grandchildren, Ailis, Einin and Teagan Frost, her sister-in-laws and their husbands, Charlene and Gary Scranton and Rose and Richard Ullman, her special niece Erin Maghery and her beloved cat Ernie. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles White and his wife Ginger; and two of her dearest friends; Mary Anne Maghery and Sharon Wentworth, who were more like sisters to her, as well as the countless animals she had over her lifetime including Pugsy, Agatha, Max, Geoffrey, Buster, Lilly, Stanley, Stella and of course Andrew Albert among others.

Donna’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Interment will be private.
