Obituary: Elaine L. Green, 76, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Elaine L. Berardesca Green, 76, of Wallingford, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022. She was the loving wife of 57 years to Bill Green.

Elaine was born in Meriden, February 13, 1946, a daughter of the late Carmine and Barbara (Mitchell) Berardesca. She was raised in Wallingford and graduated from Lyman Hall H.S. in 1964. She met Bill at a summer picnic. It was love at first sight. They were married in Des Moines, IA, where Bill was finishing his final years of Pharmacy school.

Bill and Elaine returned to Wallingford after his graduation and had their first child, Todd and then Matthew two years later. They spent most of their time in Wallingford right up to the end. They spent winters in West Palm Beach, FL, and Bill and Elaine both enjoyed playing golf and tennis.

Because of Bill’s pharmacy work and travel, Elaine did a wonderful job of taking care of their two young boys! She loved helping them take care of their schoolwork and extra activities.

When Bill opened his pharmacy in Plainville, CT, for nursing home patients, all over the state, he was able to assist taking care of the family with joy. Once they were back in Wallingford, Elaine enjoyed meeting with her classmates from Lyman Hall, and that has been a wonderful experience for her. The following years were full of wonderful travel all over the U.S. and the world!

She also loved the young children in their neighborhood and enjoyed gift giving for all! Elaine loved to cook and spend hours in the kitchen and invited friends and family to many interesting dinners! Her kindness was felt by everyone she met!

Over the last four years, Elaine was stricken with numerous medical problems that created pain and prevented her from doing what she loved, such as shopping and cooking. Her passing has relieved her of this painful life, and allowed her to be with her Lord in Heaven.

In addition to her husband Bill, she is survived by her sons, Todd W. Green of Wallingford, and Matthew C. Green of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Madison Green; her sister, Mary B. Johnson (Martin); her brother, David A. Berardesca (Opal); her sister-in-law, Cynde Green; and several nieces and nephews.

Elaine’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Friday, November 25, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
