Ernest was the epitome of a dedicated and hardworking man. He worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corporation for over forty years where he formed lifelong friendships. Ernest was loyal to his faith and worked as a maintenance and groundskeeper at the Church of the Resurrection for many, many years. He took such pleasure in making sure that others saw the beauty of the church as he did.
Ernest thoroughly enjoyed serving his community and town. He joined the Auxiliary Police as an officer in December, 1965 and quickly moved up in both tenure and rank serving as a Deputy Chief and then in 1980 was appointed to Chief of the Auxiliary Police. Ernest also served as Civil Defense Director for the Town of Wallingford for 34 years. He was very fortunate to have made many friends and contacts in the Police Services, Fire Services, Public Works Department, Electric Department, Health Department and American Red Cross and truly cherished each and every one of his friendships. Ernest was a proud mason and Past Master of Compass Lodge 9 and of Ashlar 332 in Wallingford. He was also Past District Deputy of the 4th Masonic District.

He loved his garden and would spend hours in his yard especially lounging by the pool. He looked forward to spending time with his family during summer vacations on Block Island every year, fishing with his sons and as a true wanderer roaming around the island taking long walks on the beaches. He relished in reveling and telling stories of time spent with his friends and whatever antics they got into over the years!
Above all Ernest loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his beloved wife of 42 years, Karol Frattini, he also leaves behind his cherished family; his son Michael Frattini and his children Donna and Ernest Frattini of Wallingford; his son Anthony Frattini and his wife Elizabeth Frattini of Bridgewater MA; and eldest son Ernest Frattini Jr. and his family of Spring Hills Florida. He is also survived by his brother William Frattini and his wife Beverly Frattini of Wallingford and their families. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Charles Stacey of Wallingford.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext, Friday, August 26, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Church of the Resurrection at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016. (Those attending the Mass are asked to meet directly at church.) Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook Street, I-91 Tech Ctr., Rocky Hill, CT. 06067.
