Obituary: Frank Edward Watkinson, 79, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Frank Edward Watkinson, 79, of Wallingford, loving husband of Cherry (Burr) Watkinson, passed away peacefully, June 27, 2023 at his home with his family by his side.

Frank was born in Manchester, England on December 22, 1943, a son of the late Charles and Clare (Monks) Watkinson.

Dr. Watkinson earned his PhD. in Metallurgy at Leeds University in England. In 1970, Frank and Cherry emigrated to the United States where Frank eventually partnered in Spectrum Engineering as a forensic scientist. He enjoyed spending summers at his home in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, which he always called his “happy place.”

In addition to his wife, Cherry, he is survived by his daughter, Beth Devaney; his son, Michael Watkinson; and his grandchildren, Connor, Emma and Lila Watkinson and Robbie Devaney.

Per Frank’s request, all funeral services are private. Donations in his name may be made to Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT. 06405. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext.
