Obituary: Gene R. Leavitt, 59, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Gene R. Leavitt, 59, of Wallingford, loving husband of Candy (Dean) Leavitt, passed away unexpectedly October 12, 2023.

Gene was born in Waterbury, CT on February 25, 1964, son of Kathleen (Parlapiano) Leavitt of Cheshire and the late Eugene Leavitt.

Gene was a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and most of all, “Papa”

Gene's true joy in life came from his 12 adoring grandchildren. He found immense happiness in sharing precious moments with them, and witnessing their growth. His love and guidance will forever influence their lives.

Gene was a man of warmth, kindness, and generosity. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished memories for those who were fortunate to know him.

In addition to his wife, Candy, he is survived by his three sons, Justin Leavitt, his wife Megan, Marc Leavitt, his wife Michelle, and Robert Fedak; his two daughters, Ashley DeRose and Amanda Bruder and her husband, Andrew of Wallingford; his sister, Kimberly Eigner of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Joseph, Landon, Mia, Leah, Jackson, Austin, Jordan, Parker, Evan, Blake, Avery and Peyton; and two nephews, Andrew and James.

Gene’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Monday, October 23, 2023 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. His funeral service will be held at 5:30 p.m. during calling hours. The family welcomes friends and family to Serafino’s at 6:30 p.m. following the ceremony.
