Obituary: Harold D. ‘Doug’ Thompson Jr., 59, Of Wallingford

Doug, who worked for Sikorsky Aircraft for 38 years, loved to tell many stories and jokes that had everyone in the room laughing.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Harold D. “Doug” Thompson Jr., 59, of Wallingford, died Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Vickie (Stevens) Thompson.

Doug was born in Germany on April 3, 1963, on a U.S. Military Base. He enjoyed his career in the aircraft manufacturer industry for Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation for 38 years.

Doug enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, fishing out on his boat, and hunting. Doug loved to tell many stories and jokes that had everyone in the room laughing. Doug opened his heart to anyone who needed someone to talk to, Doug knew how to send everyone in the right direction and gave great advice to anyone who needed it.

Doug had the softest heart for his grandchildren, they were his little “boos” as he would call them. Most of all, Doug had a huge heart and cared deeply about his family and many of his friends. His wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, brother, sister in-laws, and many extended family will miss Doug deeply and will forever cherish the memories that he left behind. The love for him will grow in each and every one of us for as long as we will live. We love and miss you so much Dad/Papa/Dougie, be the brightest shining guardian angel for us.

In addition to his wife Vickie, he is survived by his children, Samantha Thompson and her fiancé Paul Kozikowski, and Douglas Thompson and his wife Erika; his grandchildren, Blake, Camden and Everly; his sisters, Donna, and Denise and her husband Chris; his brother, Dwayne; his sisters-in-law, Debbie, Lauralee and Barbara Stevens; and many nieces and nephews.

Doug’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Sunday, February 5, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
