Obituary: Howard R. Inglis, 81, Of Wallingford
Howard, an active member with Chorale Connecticut and the Wallingford Chorus, volunteered his time at the Wallingford Public Library.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Howard R. Inglis of Wallingford, loving husband of Velta (Ritums) Inglis, passed away on October 26, 2023 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden. He was 81 years old.
Howard was born in Davenport, Iowa on August 25, 1942. He was the son of the late Mortimer and Mona (Clark) Inglis, and brother to the late Clark Inglis.
His early childhood started in California, moved to New Jersey, and then found his way to study at Florida Southern College. He started his working career in St. Louis, MO, working in Risk Management for St. Paul Insurance Company. Howard met Velta while in the Midwest and they got married in 1972 and started a family. Several years later, they moved to Wallingford, CT where they have been residents for 46 years. Howard and Velta were married for 51 years.

Howard was a choral singer who was an active member for many years with Chorale Connecticut and the Wallingford Chorus. He volunteered his time at the Wallingford Public Library, giving computer help to people and provided free tax help to the community at the Wallingford Senior Center. He was an active blood donor and donated many pints of blood over the years.
Howard and Velta loved to ride bicycles, and could be seen riding all over town. They also had many adventures together traveling in the U.S., France, Italy, Latvia, Holland, and Spain. In most recent years, Howard did the loving job of being the sole caretaker for his wife.

In addition to his wife, Velta, he is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Inglis and her husband, Matthew Kimmel, of Wallingford; his son, Andrew Inglis and his wife, Elizabeth Molina, of Brookline, MA; and his grandchildren, Alexander, Maxwell and Ivy.
A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, December 19, at 1 p.m. at The Library Wine Bar and Bistro in the Reading room. If you would like to attend, please contact stephanie.inglis@gmail.com.
