WALLINGFORD, CT — (From B.C. Bailey Funeral Home): With deep sorrow and much love we announce that James “Jim” Singer passed away on July 11th, 2022, at the age of 79 at his home in Wallingford, Connecticut surrounded by his family.

Jim was a lifelong resident of Wallingford, Connecticut, where he grew up with his five brothers and sisters. Although he was a bit of a rebel as a young man, he joined the Navy in 1962 and sailed the world on the destroyer USS Hissem (DER-400) on missions to Cuba, New Zealand, and to the Antarctic.

He loved to play tennis, and he had a mean left hook shot in basketball. He met the love of his life, Kathy, in High School and married her shortly thereafter.

Jim had many passions in life but three stand out: an incredible love for his wife, adoration for his children and grandchildren, and caring & tending for his home.

As a husband, he made it his mission to love and care for Kathy. As a father, he guided and raised his three boys, and as a homeowner, he built and lovingly maintained his very special and beautiful refuge and garden. Beyond these lifelong passions, he shared an incredible love and bond with his golden retriever, Stella.

Humble by nature, Jim found many ways to help and care for others while always exuding friendliness and laughter.

Jim will be greatly missed by his wife, Kathy; children, Paul and Matthew; grandchildren, Benjamin, Abigail, Molly, Max, Maggie, and Matthew; his daughters’-in-law Maureen and Susan; his sisters, Marjorie, Beverly, and Florence; and by the many others he touched throughout his life.

Jim was predeceased by his parents William and Margaret Singer and his son, John.

In lieu of flowers, please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to be collected there and donated to the local food pantry in his honor. B.C. Bailey Funeral Home of Wallingford, CT is honored to have been entrusted with Jim’s arrangements and care.
