Obituary: James W. McLaughlin, 95, of Wallingford

A World War II Navy veteran, James was employed by American Cyanamid for 42 years until his retirement.

James W. McLaughlin, 95, of Wallingford, died peacefully on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline T. Glaviano McLaughlin.

He was born in Tamaqua, PA, May 23, 1922, a son of the late John J. and Clara (Callaway) McLaughlin and was a World War II Navy Veteran. James was employed by American Cyanamid for 42 years until his retirement. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

He is survived by his two children, Ann Marie McLaughlin of S. Boston, and James G. McLaughlin of Wallingford; his daughter-in-law, Diane McLaughlin of Wallingford; his grandchildren, Paul McLaughlin and his wife Heather, Ryan McLaughlin and his wife Lindsey, Kelly Hampp and her husband Adam, and Sean McLaughlin; his great grandchildren, Peyton Rose McLaughlin and Connor William McLaughlin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Jan Uryase; and his brothers, Edward Callaway Sr. and John McLaughlin

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, October 24, from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
