Obituary: Jay D. Crudden, 75, Of Wallingford

A U.S. Navy veteran, Jay worked as a driver and transported fellow veterans to their medical appointments at the VA in West Haven.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Jay Donald Crudden, known as “Jay Bird” to friends, 75, of Wallingford, passed away on Friday, November 11, 2022. He was born in Germany on December 4, 1946 and adopted by the late James and Agnes (Sellars) Crudden and raised in Norwalk Connecticut.

As a young man, Jay enlisted into the United States Navy, and proudly served our country during the Vietnam War.

Jay worked as a driver, transporting fellow veterans to their medical appointments for the VA in West Haven. He enjoyed gathering with friends and remained active with local VFW and other veteran groups. He especially enjoyed karaoke and was always a tough act to follow.

Jay lived in West Haven for 20 years and enjoyed spending time with his Neighbors, friends and events such as walking in the town parade on Memorial Day every year.

Jay is survived by his daughter, Kelly J. Clini and her husband, Pasquale J. Clini, of Wallingford. Also, by his late Son Christopher J Crudden of Meriden, his grandchildren, Thomas M. Ventura of West Haven, Jessica M. Ventura, of Wallingford, Ryan B Clini of Meriden, Brooke E Clini of Wallingford.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Monday, November 21 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment in the State Veterans’ Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, will immediately follow.
