Obituary: John F. Koba, 77, Of Wallingford

John worked as a machinist for most of his life, cofounding Connecticut Plastics in 1980. He also served in the Tracy Fire Department.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): John F. Koba, 77, of Wallingford, loving husband of Geraldine (Brown) Koba for 56 years, passed away peacefully June 18. 2023.

Born in Meriden on November 21, 1945, John was the son of the late George and Mary (Grabiec) Koba.

John worked as a machinist for most of his life, cofounding Connecticut Plastics in 1980. Upon selling the business, he continued working at the company as a master machinist until his retirement in 2019 to care for his wife.

John had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid hunter, and a member of the New Britain Rod and Gun club for many years, often serving on the board there. John and Gerry had a love for boating, spending every weekend from April to October in Mystic. He also served in the Tracy Fire Department.

John is survived by his sons, John Koba and his wife Susan of Virginia Beach, and Kristopher Koba and his wife Anne of Rockfall; his brother, Gregory Koba of Meriden; his grandchildren, John, Britny, Arthur, Thomas and Braden Koba; his great grandchildren, Elaina and Jenna as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Kathy Costello and Marion Drake.

John’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church, on Hope Hill Road, in Wallingford. Interment will follow in the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
