Obituary: Joseph G. Mihalek, 82, of Wallingford

Joseph G. Mihalek, 82, of Wallingford, loving husband of Carol (Fenick) Mihalek for 58 years, passed away unexpectedly April 12, 2018 at his home. He was born in Palmerton, PA on October 20, 1935, a son of the late Isadore and Josephine (Rezbarek) Mihalek.

He was a track star in high school and faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War with the rank of Sergeant and was a a combat engineer. He owned and operated the Mihalek Real Estate Agency in Wallingford for more than 40 years until retiring. He loved working in his yard and he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and clamming. He was a very proud Marine and was a member of the American Legion. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Rest in peace and Semper Fi - "Marines don’t die, they go to heaven to guard the Pearly Gates! Who else would God trust!"

In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Mihalek and his wife, Debbie, and Michael Mihalek and his wife, Mary, all of Farmington; his sister, Jonah Mihalek of Palmerton, PA; his grandchildren, Katelyn, Joseph, Brooks, Anna, Jackson, and Addison; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Bretznik, and his brothers, Ambrose, John, and Frank Mihalek.

Joseph’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 4 pm until 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Road, Yalesville. Interment with military honors will be in SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford
