Obituary: Karen Ann (St. Onge) Downey, 60, of Wallingford

Karen Ann (St. Onge) Downey, 60, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Monday January 29, 2018 at Hartford Hospital after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s.

Karen was the daughter of late Albert and Jeannette (Tenerowicz) St. Onge. She was born in Meriden, CT, August 6, 1957 and raised in Wallingford. She graduated from Lyman Hall High School in Wallingford with the class of 1975. She eloped and married her longtime friend and love, David Downey, March 1979 who preceded her in death last February. Karen worked in the nursing home industry most of her life touching the lives of countless for over 40 years.

Karen loved the beach including her and David’s annual treks to North Truro, Cape Cod. She had excellent taste in sports clubs including her New York Yankees and Giants.

She is survived by her many brothers and sisters and their spouses, Mark St. Onge and Marie Bloom St. Onge of East Lyme, CT; Neil St. Onge of Aliso Viejo, CA; David St. Onge of Bristol; Brian St. Onge of Minneapolis, MN; Thomas St. Onge of Los Angeles, CA; Peter St. Onge of Flagler Beach, FL; Paul St. Onge and Celeste (Folk) St. Onge of Las Vegas, NV; Michael St. Onge of Edmunds, WA; Janice St. Onge Raccio and Daniel Raccio of Cheshire, CT; Michelle St. Onge Ursini of Woodbridge; and her sister-in-law Lynn Lanzoni and husband Michael. She was the beloved Aunt, often referred to as “Punkin” and adored her nephews and nieces, Kimberly Cardoza, Kristen St. Onge, Michael and Cole Raccio, Isabella and Matthew Ursini, Michael Lanzoni Jr. Karen is predeceased by her sister-in-law, Sharon (Diane) Nations St.Onge and her nephew Alexander Ursini.
