Obituary: Kathleen M. Newhard, 61, Of Wallingford

Kathleen volunteered her free time with the Wallingford Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Kathleen M. Newhard, 61, of Wallingford, loving wife of Eric Newhard, passed away peacefully March 28, 2024 at Connecticut Hospice with her family by her side.

Kathleen was born in Fairfield on September 17, 1962, a daughter of the late Richard and Marylen (Svec) Hossan. A few years later, the family moved to Southington. Kathleen loved working at Mount Southington as one of her first jobs. She graduated from Southington High School and later earned an Associate’s Degree from Post College.

Right out of college, Kathleen began her Administrative Officer Career with the United States Secret Service and retired after 40 devoted years.

Kathleen volunteered her free time with the Wallingford Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps. Kathleen had a love of travel and visited many states and countries over the years with her family. She loved experiencing moments with the people she loved most.

In addition to her husband, Eric, she is survived by her daughter, Emily Newhard; her son, Timothy Newhard and his wife, Emily; her sisters, Maryellen Michaud and her husband, David, and Patricia Caporale; and many loving nieces and nephews who she adored. She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Hossan.

Kathleen’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church in Wallingford. Interment in St. John Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center, http://www.mdanderson.org/gifts with a notation that donations are to be applied to cancer research under Dr. Paul Corn in the Dept. of Genitourinary Medical Oncology.
