Obituary: Kelly Kane, 74, Of Wallingford

With his quick wit and kindness, Kelly touched many throughout his life. He owned and operated Total Sports, based in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Kelly Kane, 74, of Wallingford, husband of Susan Kane, passed away, unexpectedly on October 25, 2022, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.

Kelly was born in Derby, CT, on March 10, 1948, son of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Henault) Kane.

With his quick wit and kindness, Kelly touched many throughout his life. Until his retirement, Kelly owned and operated Total Sports based in Wallingford, CT. He played an instrumental role in founding the inaugural Columbus Day Hawks Hockey Tournament that has continued since 1999. He was an avid golfer, spending many days on the golf course and watching PGA events from home.

An exceptional husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Mr. Telephone’s nightly calls will be missed by all.

In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his sons, Colin Kane (Amanda Kendrick), Dillon Kane and Brendan Kane (Nicole Letis); his grandson, Pierce Kane; his friend and nephew, Bryan Kane (Shannon) and numerous nieces and nephews; and his brother-in-law, Paul Hoffman. He was predeceased by his brother and best friend, Tex Kane; and his sisters, Lorraine Sommers and Deb Hoffman.

Kelly’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., on Saturday, October 29, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eulogies and a time to share memories will be held at 4:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory can be made to his grandson and joy of his life, Pierce Kane.
