Obituary: Kenneth B. Darr Sr., 79, Of Wallingford

Ken served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Dog Handler, owned several businesses, and ended his career at the New Haven Register.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Kenneth B. Darr Sr., of Wallingford, passed away at his home on Friday, May 12, 2023.

Ken was born in New Haven, March 31, 1944, a son of the late Earl and Margaret (Torello) Darr. Ken grew up in West Haven, and served in the United States Army as Military Police Dog Handler. After the service Ken worked in various industries trying on different hats including one of his most talked about, owning the convenience stores.

Another notable business he owned was BEKK Security, an alarm company in which he named after his children. He ended his career with 20 plus years at the New Haven Register.

Ken was also a loving father to four children; Brenda, Kenneth, Kathryn and Earl. His family was the most important to him and he loved his children deeply. When he wasn’t spending time with his children or grandchildren in his later years; he loved going to the casino or playing pool.

Ken is survived by his children; Brenda Darr, Kenneth Darr Jr. and wife Roxanne Darr, Kathryn (Darr) Nowak and husband Marek Nowak, Earl Darr Sr. and wife Rebekah Darr; his grandchildren Stephanie, Jessica, Melissa, Laura Lee, Kenneth, Kayla, and Earl. He is also survived by three nieces and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his only sibling Earl R. Darr and wife Carmel Darr.
