Obituary: Kenneth R. Rowe, 77, Of Wallingford

A U.S. Army veteran, he volunteered for a variety of local organizations and also spent many hours helping neighbors in need.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Kenneth R. Rowe, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024, in UConn John Demsey Hospital, Farmington. He was the loving husband of Wilma Lee (Morgan) Rowe. He was born in Bartley, West Virginia, on December 22, 1946, a son of the late Hezekiah “Carl” and Ramey “Roma” (Mullens) Rowe.

Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1988. With 22 years of service, he was honorably discharged as a Chief Warrant Officer. He graduated from Campbell University and Albertus Magnus College, earning his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration.

After completing his military service, he was employed with Yale University as a contracting officer and supply manager for 20 years before retiring in 2009. Ken lived an active life in the Wallingford community, volunteering for a variety of organizations, including Master’s Manna, American Veterans (AMVETS), and First Baptist Church. He also spent many hours helping neighbors in need. Kenneth always had a heart of service and prioritized his family and those who were less fortunate.

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Lee (Morgan) Rowe of Wallingford; his son Kenneth Jr. and his wife, Eliane Rowe; a daughter Melissa (Rowe), and her husband, Lee Montgomery. Grandchildren: Chris Bizzell, Robert Rowe, Aaron Bizzell, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Kenneth was predeceased by Tracy Rowe, Calvin Rowe, and Bonnie Welter.
