Obituary: Kevin J. Driscoll Sr., 80, Of Wallingford

Kevin, a U.S. Navy veteran and co-founder of Phoenix Press Inc., was a former hockey coach & longtime member of the Wallingford Country Club

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Kevin J. Driscoll Sr., 80, of Wallingford, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Gabriella (Rossi) Driscoll for 56 years.

Kevin was born in Dearborn, Michigan, on September 4, 1943, the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Marinan) Driscoll. After the death of his mother, Kevin’s father married Frances (Daley) Driscoll who raised him in New Haven, CT. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1964.

Kevin earned an Associate’s degree in Printing and Graphics, then taught graphic design at the New Haven Public School system and Southern CT State University.

Kevin co-founded Phoenix Press Inc., operating and owning the company with his brothers until his retirement. Kevin was an avid golfer, former hockey coach, and a longtime member of the Wallingford Country Club. He was also a sports enthusiast with a particular fondness for thoroughbred racing.

In addition to his wife Gabriella, Kevin is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharri (Driscoll) and Francis Maurais; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Jr. and Alison (Power) Driscoll; and his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Aiden Maurais. He is also survived by his siblings Maureen (Driscoll) Holden, Brian Driscoll, and Anthony Jasaitis; brother-in-law Giancarlo Rossi; plus, their spouses, nieces, and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Thursday, January 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 5 at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church, 84 N. Colony St., Wallingford. Interment with military honors will follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.

In Kevin’s memory, charitable contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association.
