Obituary: Lindsay Spaltro, 98, Of Wallingford

Lindsay was a heroic WWII veteran who fought in multiple battles, including D-Day on Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Lindsay Spaltro, 98, of Wallingford, husband of the late Barbara (Bailey) Spaltro, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2023.

Lindsay was born in Portland, Maine on January 3, 1925, a son of the late Julius and Victoria (Verna) Spaltro.

Lindsay was a heroic WWII veteran who fought in multiple battles, including D-Day on Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. After the War he settled down in the Wallingford area where he eventually met and was married to his beautiful bride, Barbara, for 47 years.

Lindsay enjoyed traveling with Barbara, often taking many cruises to the Bahamas and Aruba. He also was an avid golfer and until he passed, was an avid lottery ticket scratcher.

He is survived by his four grandsons, Christopher, Matthew and Tyler O’Grady and Ryan Bowen. Lindsay was predeceased by his son, Michael O’Grady and daughter, Brenda Bowen, and his 10 siblings

There will be a celebration of life held on Friday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Italian Club in Wallingford, 91 Dudley Ave. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
