Louise Gavrish, 89, of Wallingford, passed away January 6, 2018 at MidState Medical Center, Meriden.

She was born in Nanticoke, PA on December 4, 1928, a daughter of the late Michael and Bertha (Vance) Gavrish. She graduated from Newport Township High School and from Pequot Business School of Meriden.

She worked for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in North Haven and retired after 32 years. She was the first woman foreman at the North Haven facility.

Throughout her life Louise's passion was her pets, especially her French poodles and her Bichon Frises.

She is survived by her nephews, James Gavrish and his wife Dao of Litchfield, Michael J. Arrato Gavrish and his wife, Diane, of Derry, NH, Frank Gavrish and his wife, Cheryl, of Danbury and Michael A. Gavrish of Meriden; her niece, Robin Shinault and her husband, Lonnie, of Denver, CO; her good friends and neighbors, Kris and John Sabatucci and Joanie and Peter Imbriglio; and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Edward and Frank Gavrish.

Her family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wednesday, January 10, 2018 from 3 pm until 6 p.m. Her funeral will be from the funeral home, Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 9:00 am when the funeral cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in her memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
