Marion “Manya” (Drozd) Amato, 93, of Wallingford, died Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Masonicare Health Center. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Amato of 73 years.
She was born in New Haven, April 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Michael and Nellie Drozd. She was employed by the Wallingford Board of Education until her retirement.

The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all of her caregivers.
She is survived by her children, James Amato and his wife Rosemarie, Daniel Amato and his wife Deborah, Marianne Amato, Dianne Schweiss, and Carol Amato and her significant other, Charles Spinaci; her grandchildren, Lisa Amato (Robert Lynch), James Amato (Michelle), Danielle Amato, Jake Schweiss and Arissa Schweiss; five great grandchildren; her sister Lillian Arserio and her husband Pat; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Steven Drozd.

Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, September 25, from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Masonicare Home and Hospice Care, 104 S. Turnpike Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
