Obituary: Maryam Amina Taylor, 65, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From B.C. Bailey Funeral Home): Maryam Amina Taylor, 65, of Wallingford, departed this life on December 22, 2023 at Yale-New Haven Hospital following a valiant and courageous battle against cancer. She was the beloved wife of Keith W. Taylor.

Maryam was born in Hyderabad, India on August 26, 1958 to M. Aminuddin Khan and Selma (Zaheer) Khan.

Maryam's early years involved growing up in the high range tea estates of Kerala, India. Later, she attended & graduated from the Vidyaranya School and then Nizam College in Hyderabad. In 1984, she moved to Connecticut with her daughter, Rehan, and welcomed the arrival Maryam's son Zahid in 1986.

In 2000, she married the love of her life, Keith W. Taylor. They met in Mystic, CT and experienced love at first sight. Keith's young Kyle joined the brood.

Maryam and Keith enjoyed a marriage that most people dream of, truly building a life together. Having an interest in English Gardens, she and Keith established a respected perennial garden at their Wallingford home, enjoying hours together among the blooms they had created. But her passion was being with people: clients, colleagues and acquaintances alike. She gave a piece of her heart to all she met.

Maryam worked as an environmental chemist throughout her career but will be best remembered as a star realtor at Calcagni Real Estate, also in Wallingford.

Maryam is survived by: her parents M. Aminuddin Khan and Selma (Zaheer) Khan, husband Keith Taylor, daughter Rehan-Aliya Taylor, son Kyle S. Taylor, daughter-in-law Madison Taylor, granddaughter Blaire M. Taylor, brother Zayn Khan and his son Zafar Khan, uncle Akeel Zaheer, aunt Patricia Zaheer, nephew Wazir Zaheer and neice Sarah Zaheer (Aman Luther, Aden and Reya Luther). Brothers/Sisters-in-law: Kirk Taylor (Vicki), Kristy Laur (Randy), Kim Taylor-Papp (Larry), Robin Young (Patrick), William Taylor, Jody Achor (Todd). Multiple nieces & nephews and a community of friends and family worldwide. She was preceded in death by son, Zahid K. Ansari, mother & father in-law Sally L. & Thomas A. Taylor.

Maryam's brilliance, elegance, beauty and love will be well-remembered by every person she encountered. She was a mother to her children's friends and a sister to her own; a shining light to all those around her.

Her family will receive friends and visitors on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford.
