WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): It is with profound sadness that the family of MaryJane Nunn announces her passing on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the age of 85 in Wallingford, CT.

MaryJane was born in Newark, NJ on December 18, 1936 to Oscar and Mary (Moran) Mauer. MaryJane grew up in Kearny, NJ with her sister, Dorothy and brother, John. MaryJane attended St. Cecilia’s school and learned to play the accordion. Along with her teacher and other bandmates, she entertained troops as part of the USO and played on a children’s television show.

The nuns at St. Cecilia’s were from the Sisters of Charity and MaryJane was called to attend the Juniorate after her first year of high school, where she planned to enter the order and become a nurse. After learning that she would be asked to teach rather than administer to the sick, she left the Juniorate and returned home. Following high school, MaryJane attended the Jersey City Medical Center School of Nursing and became a registered nurse, which was a lifelong passion of hers.
