Obituary: Maxwell C. Goldberg, 78, Of Wallingford

Max, who served in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller during the Vietnam War, liked to be around family and friends.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Maxwell C. Goldberg, 78, of Wallingford, husband of Harriett (Glazer) Goldberg, passed away October 2, 2022 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

Max was born in New Haven on June 11, 1944, a son of the late Samuel and Dora (Marmitt) Goldberg. He moved to Wallingford in 1967 and resided there for the rest of his life.

Max served in the United States Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller during the Vietnam War. He retired from Aramark Uniform ending a career of service.

Max had a warm heart and a kind smile and liked to be around family and friends. He was always willing to help an organization or work on a committee. Max enjoyed coaching youth sports, watching the New York Yankees, and seeing his grandchildren. He also became a regular at card games at the Wallingford Senior Center. He especially enjoyed his time with his 4 grand dogs.

In addition to his wife, Harriet, Max is survived by his sons, Adam Goldberg and his wife, Kerri Riccardo, of Stamford and Jonathan Goldberg and his wife, Lauren, of Cheshire; his grandchildren Isobel, Alexandra and Gabriella; and his nephews Louis, Daryl and Christopher. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Goldberg and his sister, Adrienne Wright.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022 directly at State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford.
