Obituary: Michael David Scarpa Sr., 85, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Michael David Scarpa Sr., 85, of Wallingford, loving husband of Gloria (Wetmore) Scarpa for 66 years, passed away July 20, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

Michael was born in Meriden on February 5, 1937, a son of the late Michael and Mary (Oros) Scarpa.

Michael served in the United States Marine Corps and then worked for Tilcon for over 35 years, retiring as Superintendent. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a skilled craftsman and woodworker and loved working on and restoring cars. He owned a motel in West Palm Beach, FL and a store in Lyndonnville, VT.

In addition to his wife, Gloria, he is survived by his sons, Michael D. Scarpa Jr. and his companion, Maureen Kennedy and Troy E. Scarpa and his companion, Ivonne Staskiewicz; his daughter, Debi Scarpa Berry and her husband, Ted; his grandchildren, Christopher Scarpa and his wife, Samantha and Dennis, Michael and Kristen Scarpa and Tyler and Janelle Berry; and his great grandchild, Harper. He was predeceased by his son, Dennis W. Scarpa and his brothers, Guy and Ronnie Scarpa.

Michael’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Masks are optional. His funeral will be held at 10 am on Saturday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in Center Street Cemetery in Wallingford.
