Obituary: Michael R. Tyler, 70; Formerly of Wallingford
He spent many years in Route sales until retiring from Garelick Farms. His greatest joy was being "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren.

Michael R. Tyler, 70, of Colchester, formerly of Wallingford, beloved husband of Barbra (Jay) Tyler, died March 8, 2018 at Middlesex Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Haven on February 10, 1948, the son of the late Louis and Phyllis (O’Boylan) Tyler.
He graduated from Hillhouse High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He spent many years in Route sales until retiring from Garelick Farms. His greatest joy was being “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren. He was a true lover of animals, leaving behind his two cherished pets, Chester and Aeries who will miss him dearly. An avid sports fan, he loved the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. He had a compassionate heart for his family and his many friends, and was an active supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project.

The family would like to thank the staff at Middlesex Hospice for all the care and compassion they gave to Michael and his family during his stay there.
In addition to his wife, Barbra, he is survived by his daughters, Dena Virgulto and her husband, Paul, of Wallingford, Kelle DeRico and her husband, Scott, of Meriden, and Tara Lopez and her husband, Raul, of Meriden; and his grandchildren, Stephanie, Sara, Zachary, Tyler, Charlie, Sebastian, and Brooke. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Pierce Hamilton.

Michael’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Ext., Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 11 am until 1 pm. with a time of remembrance to be held at 1 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
